Innovation-Educational Park Open House in Presence of Diplomatic Corps
Serbian Mine Action Centre Innovation and Educational Park organized an Open House for representatives of more than ten embassies, who had the opportunity to learn about the work of the Center, the results achieved, and the capacities available.
During the visit, diplomats from the embassies of the following countries: the USA, the Republic of Korea, Germany, Switzerland, Norway, Canada, Ukraine, France, Belgium, UK, and the EU Delegation to Serbia, toured the training ground and became familiar with the latest equipment used in the field.
DRAKON Group Director Alex Atkins spoke about the internationally recognized explosive ordnance disposal training courses, which have been delivered in accordance with the IMAS by this company in cooperation with the SMAC for three years.
SMAC Director, Bojan Glamočlija, emphasized the importance of international support in this area, emphasizing that donations and funds from international partners represent an important support for the continued development of the SMAC.
“The donations we receive allow us to improve technological capacities, train deminers and implement developed projects. This event is another opportunity to strengthen cooperation with international partners, as well as to reaffirm the importance of joint efforts to eliminate the threat of ERW in the Republic of Serbia,” said Glamočlija.
The visit was also an opportunity to present in more details to representatives of the diplomatic corps the vision and development plan of the SMAC, as well as the contributions that our Center provides within the framework of global initiatives in all components of mine action.
At the global level, continued work on these issues provides support to countries facing the consequences of ERW, creating a foundation for lasting security and sustainable development.
In this context, assistance from the international community and global cooperation enables the exchange of knowledge, experiences and resources, thereby accelerating the process of removing ERW and reducing the risk to human security.
