Implementation of the ERW Clearance Project Along the Belgrade Metro Route Commences

Implementation of the project for the clearance of suspected hazardous areas contaminated with ERW has commenced at locations designated for the construction of stations and shafts as part of the Belgrade Metro – Line 1, Phase 1 project.

Upon the request of the company “Power Construction Corporation of China”, the Mine Action Centre of the Republic of Serbia developed the project and is responsible for monitoring implementation and conducting quality assurance and quality control activities, while field works are being carried out by Millennium Team.

Metro Line 1, Phase 1, covers approximately 15 kilometres of route, along which 15 stations and 10 ventilation and evacuation shafts will be constructed.

The project aims to ensure safe conditions for the commencement and uninterrupted execution of works on this major infrastructure undertaking.

The implementation of the project represents an important step toward the realization of one of the country’s key infrastructure projects, enabling the safe and efficient execution of construction works.

At the same time, it will contribute to the improvement of transport infrastructure, better connectivity between different parts of the city, and an enhanced quality of life for citizens.
