Collaboration between SMAC and MoI Sector for Emergency Management
The Head of the Department for Unexploded Ordnance, Directorate for Civil Protection and Risk Management, Sector for Emergency Management of the Ministry of Interior, together with his colleagues, visited the SMAC Innovation and Educational Park in Velika Moštanica.
During the visit, they toured the premises of the Innovation-Educational Park as well as the training grounds, where the IMAS EOD Level 3+ training is currently being held in collaboration with the SMAC and the UK based company “DRAKON Group” with 8 participants from different countries of the world.
After they got acquainted with the possibilities and capacities of the entire complex of the former military barracks, which covers an area of 3 hectares, a meeting was held where they were informed about the current activities of the SMAC, current projects in progress, as well as future plans for the Innovation and Educational Park, emphasizing the importance of continuous improvement of educational programs in order to raise awareness about the risks of UXO and promote safety in the community.
Furthermore, representatives of the SMAC and the Department for Unexploded Ordnance of the MoI Sector for Emergency Management highlighted the possibilities of further cooperation in the areas of joint training and education, exchange of information on new technologies and demining methods, as well as in the planning and implementation of joint actions to reduce the risk of unexploded ordnance.
