Visit of the French Delegation
On Thursday, November 21, 2024, the SMAC Innovation and Educational Park was visited by the French delegation consisting of Defense Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of France in Belgrade, Mr Pierre Desjeux and representatives of the French EOD Centre PIAM (Pôle Interarmées de Traitement du Danger des Munitions et Explosifs), located in the French city of Angers.
During the visit, they had the opportunity to get acquainted with the work of the SMAC, as well as with the results so far, conducted trainings and future plans in the field of mine action in the Republic of Serbia. The delegation visited the capacities of the Innovation-Educational Park, which stretches for 3 hectares and represents a significant resource for training and research/development of innovative solutions in this domain.
Within its jurisdiction, the PIAM is an important factor in international efforts for security and removal of the danger from explosives. It is responsible for the development of operational capacities and skills in all aspects of military operations, both nationally and internationally.
The visit of the French delegation opened up new opportunities for the development of cooperation between Serbia and France in these important areas, and the exchange of knowledge and experience promises significant results in the future.
