Resurvey of Hangars at Ponikve Airport

Representatives of the Mine Action Centre, in cooperation with representatives of the public enterprise “Ponikve Airport” Užice, conducted a resurvey of hangars at Ponikve Airport, which are suspected to be contaminated with cluster munitions, heavy projectiles, and other unexploded ordnance (UXO).

The resurvey was carried out to perform a detailed assessment of the current condition and determine the level of contamination, in order to create a technical basis for the development of demining projects.

Clearance the Hangars of ERW will contribute to the increased safety of people and facilities in the immediate vicinity, while also opening space for the further development and modernization of the airport.

This represents an important step toward the economic strengthening of the region, particularly in the field of tourism and the attraction of both domestic and foreign investments.
