Quality Control – Leskovac–Vranje Gas Pipeline
Representatives of the Serbian Mine Action Centre carried out quality control of the works completed under Phase 1 of the Project for the Clearance of Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) along the gas pipeline route between Leskovac and Vranje.
The inspection confirmed that all activities were conducted in accordance with prescribed international safety standards, and no critical errors, as defined in the project documentation, were identified.
During the implementation of Phase 1, a total of 264 ERW were discovered on site and safely removed by the Emergency Management Sector of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Serbia.
The contractor continues with further work in coordination with the Mine Action Centre, in line with International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) and Standard Operating Procedures.
Following the completion of ERW clearance in this area, the threat posed by explosive remnants of war to the construction and use of the Leskovac–Vranje gas pipeline will be eliminated.
