COMPLETION OF UXO CLEARANCE PROJECTS FOR “SLOBODA ČAČAK 7” AND “SLOBODA ČAČAK 8” SITES

Following the Serbian Mine Action Centre final inspection of the works conducted by contractor “Millennium Team” ltd., the implementation of UXO clearance projects for “Sloboda Čačak 7” and “Sloboda Čačak 8” sites has been completed.

125 pieces of UXO were found and safely destroyed during the implementaion of the projects.

SMAC developed the projects at the request of Čaćak based Sloboda AD Company, which is the investor of the works. This company shows that it is a socially responsible company, recognizing that after clearing these sites of UXO, the danger they pose, first of all, to people and the environment, will be eliminated, thus contributing to the increase of safety of residents and creating opportunities for the safe use of agricultural land, bearing in mind that the „Sloboda 7″ project area is located within the premises of Sloboda AD Company, while the “Sloboda 8” project area is outside the compound of the company.

As a reminder, in June 2021, as a result of fire and explosion, there was a scattering of UXO in and outside the factory area. In the previous period, also at the request of Sloboda AD Company, 6 UXO clearance projects were completed for the sites where UXO was scattered after the explosion and fire.
