Annual Analysis of 2024 SMAC Work
Serbian Mine Action Centre organized the annual work analysis for 2024, which was held on December 13th in the Innovation-Educational Park. At this event, the results and achievements in the field of mine action in the Republic of Serbia were presented, as well as the challenges that appeared during the year in the field.
SMAC Director, Mr Bojan Glamočlija, emphasized that in 2024, 3,118,767 sqm were cleared, making the total area cleared to over 66,000,000 sqm.
He also pointed out that the SMAC expanded its cooperation with international organizations, which resulted in participation in important international gatherings, visits of high-ranking delegations to the Innovation-Educational Park, as well as a larger volume of training.
In addition, the SMAC worked on the development of new technologies and innovations in the field of mine action.
During the presentation, the importance of the involvement of all relevant institutions was particularly emphasized, given that only by working together can we contribute to greater safety of the population. This enables the return to restored territories and creates new opportunities for the development of local communities.
The annual analysis was also an opportunity to review the financial support that during the year was crucial for the implementation of large projects and the improvement of international cooperation.
A look to the future points to the plans of the SMAC, which aim to improve and strengthen the capacities of the Republic of Serbia in the area of mine action, both on land and in water.
The upcoming period brings new opportunities for strengthening the SMAC’s capacity, additional education and training of expert teams, as well as the implementation of new technologies in the demining process.
