Site Survey Conducted Near Jamena

Representatives of the Mine Action Centre of the Republic of Serbia conducted a survey of a site in the Sava River, near the village of Jamena, where there were suspicions of the presence of improvised unexploded ordnance.

As part of the non-technical survey and site assessment, an analysis of information collected from the local population was carried out, as well as an assessment of the physical characteristics of the area and its historical and current use.

Based on the data collected and checks carried out so far, no evidence indicating the presence of improvised explosive devices was identified, nor was there any evidence to confirm the classification of the site as a suspected area.

The Mine Action Centre will continue activities related to the survey of the site, consultations with relevant institutions, and the collection and analysis of available data. Following these activities, a decision will be made on the further status of the site, in accordance with the principle of “all reasonable efforts,” international standards, and the national mine action procedures of the Republic of Serbia.
