Mine Action Centre of the Republic of Serbia Organized a Side Event in Geneva

Within the framework of the 29th International Meeting of National Mine Action Directors and United Nations Advisers in Geneva, the Mine Action Centre of the Republic of Serbia, in coordination with the non-governmental organization MAG, organized a side event entitled “Making Localization Work: Pathways to Sustainable Nationally Led Mine Action”.

In addition to representatives of the Mine Action Centre of the Republic of Serbia and MAG, the side event also brought together representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, the Ukrainian Deminers Association, and the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD).

The objective of the panel discussion was to examine approaches to localization, exchange practical experiences among donors, national authorities, national non-governmental organizations, and international operators, as well as to explore ways to strengthen national ownership, promote local leadership, and ensure sustainable investment in the field of mine action.
