Survey for Sewage Network Construction Project on Kopaonik
On Monday, September 30, 2024, SMAC representatives carried out a general survey of the site for the construction of a sewage network on Mount Kopaonik, Municipality of Raška.
The sewerage network construction project is being implemented by the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the Republic of Serbia.
The route of the sewage network is located in the immediate vicinity of the area where the hotel “Bačište” was located, which was completely destroyed during the 1999 bombing. In addition to the hotel, the transformer station was also damaged, as were other nearby buildings.
In 2005, the Cluster Munitions Clearance Project for the Bačište Site (clearance to a depth of 50 cm) developed by the SMAC was implemented, where 22 pieces of cluster bombs and one hand grenade were found.
Survey contributes to risk assessment of ERW hazards and is a prerequisite for later evidence-based decision-making on ERW hazards.
