SMAC Participation at GICHD Innovation Session on AI for Mine Action
In the organization of the Geneva International Center for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) in the period from October 1 to 3, 2024, in Geneva, Swiss Confederation, the Innovation Session on Artificial Intelligence for Mine Action is being held.
The Innovation Session is a follow-up to previous iterations of the Technology Workshop and Innovation Conference, organized by the GICHD.
Following contemporary trends, the GICHD has directed this year’s session to include broader innovative approaches, such as artificial intelligence.
SMAC representatives, like in previous years, are participating in a three-day Innovation Session, which gathered more than 100 experts from the mine action and artificial intelligence sectors, in order to exchange ideas, improve existing methods and develop innovative solutions that use artificial intelligence for data analysis, hazard assessment and mine action automation, which reduces risk and increases efficiency.
The goal of this Innovation Session is the research and development of new technologies and approaches that can improve effectiveness, safety and precision in the identification and removal of mines and ERW.
The event is supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Germany (Auswärtiges Amt) and the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA).
