Safety of Citizens – Priority of Humanitarian Demining

On Wednesday, October 11, representatives of Serbian Mine Action Centre (SMAC) visited the location where an unexploded aerial bomb was found on Monday, October 2, during the work on the project Modernization and rehabilitation of the Niš-Brestovac railway section.

The aerial bomb was found in the village of Kočane, City of Niš.

SMAC representatives established that it was an unexploded aerial bomb of German production, weighing around 100 kg.

The contractor informed the Police Department of Niš about the discovery of the bomb.

SMAC will propose procedures to reduce the risk of unexploded ordnance hazards.

The destruction of the found aerial bomb will be carried out by members of the Department for Emergency Management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Humanitarian demining eliminates suspicions of potential danger zones and takes all security measures, the priority of which is to ensure the safety of citizens.
