More than 490 Pieces of Unexploded Ordnance Found in the “Rakovica – 3” Project

During the implementation of the project for clearing the “Rakovica – 3” site of unexploded ordnance, deminers have so far found more than 490 pieces of unexploded ordnance (UXO).

The UXO found includes grenades, hand grenades, mortar rounds and other explosive devices, which posed a potential risk to the safety of people, property and the environment.

 The UXO found is identified and safely removed from the site in accordance with the prescribed procedures. Part of the UXO found has been destroyed by the Ministry of Interior, while the remaining part is awaiting destruction.

The “Rakovica – 3” UXO clearance project was developed by the Mine Action Centre of the Republic of Serbia, and its implementation began with the introduction of the contractor to the works. The works are carried out in accordance with the project documentation, applicable national regulations and the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS), with continuous professional supervision and quality control.

 The detection and safe removal of UXO from the site contributes to reducing risks and creating safe conditions for its future use.
