Meeting with Representatives of the State Department

During a multi-day visit to Washington, USA, Serbian Mine Action Centre Director, Mr Bojan Glamočlija and Assistant Director Ms Jelena Krstić met with representatives of the Bureau of Military-Political Affairs of the State Department, Gerald L. Guilbert, Jr., Chief of Programs and Kelly Matanin, Program Manager for Serbia.

Representatives of the State Department had the opportunity to learn about the current situation in the Republic of Serbia regarding the remaining contamination by mines, cluster bombs and other explosive remnants of war, as well as the challenges and the need for support.

At the meeting, the results so far and possible directions for further cooperation between the two sides were discussed.

SMAC uses this opportunity to thank the US Embassy in Belgrade as one of the most important partners and donors in the field of humanitarian demining in the Republic of Serbia and to express hope for deepening cooperation in the coming period, which will give new impetus to the development of mine action in the Republic of Serbia.
