Final Quality Control on North 2 Project in Niš

SMAC representatives conducted the final quality control inspection of the Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) Suspected Area Clearance Project in the North 2 Industrial Zone in Niš.

The inspection confirmed that all work was completed in accordance with the Project, with no critical errors identified as defined by the Project documentation.

During the Project implementation, the following ERWs were discovered on-site: a 75mm projectile, a 60mm projectile, and a 75mm artillery shell.

Members of the Sector for Emergency Management, part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, safely removed and destroyed the ERW in line with all safety protocols.

The detection, removal, and safe disposal of ERW at the site in question highlights the importance and necessity of such projects, which play a key role in protecting people and property and lay the groundwork for future safe development, investment, and utilization of industrial zones.

The North 2 Industrial Zone is located near the Niš North toll station. The City Administration for Local Development and Investments is actively involved in planning infrastructure improvements for the area.

Plans for the site include the construction of a water supply system and sewage infrastructure for both wastewater and storm water. These works will take place in the area south of the highway, toward Constantine the Great Airport.
