Commencement of the UXO Clearance Project “Rakovica – 4”

Implementation of the Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Clearance Project “Rakovica – 4”, developed by the Serbian Mine Action Centre, has commenced.

Following the verification of the documentation and equipment to be used by representatives of the Serbian Mine Action Centre, the contractor, the non-governmental organisation In Demining from Pale, Republika Srpska, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the company Trotil Ltd. from Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, engaged by ITF and the donors as the monitoring organisation, were formally introduced to the project site.

Funding for the implementation of this project has been provided with the support of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, the United States of America, and the Republic of Korea, through the International Trust Fund for Enhancing Human Security (ITF).

The Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Clearance Project “Rakovica – 3” is also currently being implemented in the municipality of Rakovica.

The implementation of these projects will ensure the safe use of the land, in accordance with the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS) and the national priorities of the Republic of Serbia.
