Commencement of Implementation of ERW Clearance Project for Site in Bošnjace Village

In accordance with procedures prescribed by the International Mine Action Standards, the Mine Action Centre has developed an ERW Clearance Project for the site in the village of Bošnjace, based on a request from the Ministry of Mining and Energy.

The ERW suspected area to be cleared is located in the village of Bošnjace, in the municipality of Lebane, 12 km from the center of Leskovac. The site is intended for the construction of large-capacity self-balancing solar power plants with battery energy storage systems in the Republic of Serbia.

Representatives of the Mine Action Centre have inspected the documentation and equipment to be used, after which the contractor, “Millennium Team” LLC, Belgrade, was officially introduced to the project site.

In cooperation with the team of deminers, the medical support organization at the worksite carried out a medical evacuation plan to test preparedness and effectiveness in emergency situations.

The goal of this project is to clear the suspected area of ERW, thereby creating conditions for the safe use of the land for energy projects. This will enable a stable, reliable, and environmentally friendly electricity supply, while simultaneously reducing dependence on fossil fuels and increasing the share of renewable energy sources.
