28th International Meeting of Mine Action National Directors and UN Advisors Held in Geneva
Representatives of the Mine Action Center of the Republic of Serbia (SMAC) participated in the 28th International Meeting of Mine Action National Directors and United Nations (UN) Advisors, which was held in Geneva, the Swiss Confederation, from 9 to 11 April 2025.

This year’s meeting, with the theme “Safe Futures Start Here,” brought together representatives of the mine action community from different parts of the world who had the opportunity to present results to date, identify challenges in their work, exchange experiences and discuss the evolution of mine action.
Specific solutions and activities that can contribute to a more effective solution to the problem of explosive remnants of war at the global level were discussed, as well as the improvement of national capacities through the implementation of training and the introduction of innovative solutions.

The meeting was held at the Geneva International Conference Centre (CICG), organized by the UN Inter-Agency Coordination Group for Mine Action (IACG-MA) and the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD).

On the margins of the main event, representatives of the SMAC and the Mission of the Republic of Serbia to the UN in Geneva jointly met with representatives of the Implementation Support Unit of the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention, GICHD – the IMSMA Core IM Department, and the independent non-technical survey consultant. On this occasion, the status of the implementation of the Non-Technical Survey Project in the Municipality of Bujanovac was discussed, as well as the challenges of the overall mine action program in the Republic of Serbia.
Representatives of the SMAC also met with representatives of the ITF Enhancing Human Security, donor organizations, representative of the Mine Action Review endevour, as well as equipment manufacturers and other interested parties.
