Commencement of ERW Protection Project During Removal of 21 Sunken Vessels in the Danube River near Prahovo
29 July 2024 saw the commencement of the implementation of ERW Protection Project During Removal of 21 Sunken Vessels in the Danube River near Prahovo, No. 0314/24.
The project was developed by the SMAC, which monitors the implementation and conducts quality control over the works, while the consortium consisting of Millennium Team ltd. and Aqua Mont ltd, is the contractor.
In accordance with Phase 1 of the Project, the contractor will perform ERW protection activities on 4 vessels designated as N-12, N-15, N-16 and T-18.
The goal of the Project is to eliminate the danger to people, property and the environment from ERW and to create conditions for safe and secure execution of works on removal of ships and deepening of the Danube river bed, i.e. the waterway to the designed depth.
As a reminder, due to the need to remove obstacles and dangers to navigation, the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Serbia launched a project to remove 21 vessels that directly affect the safety of navigation. In order to provide data on the type and type of explosive remnants of war, their condition, quantity, location, depth and position on, within and around each individual shipwreck of the sunken German fleet, the SMAC developed Project for Technical Survey of Sunken German fleet from the Second World War from the Danube River near Prahovo, Negotin, No. 0300/23, from which the subject ERW protection project arose.
