SMAC Participation at MLI Clearing The Path Gala Dinner
At the invitation of the Marshall Legacy Institute, SMAC representatives attended Clearing The Path Gala Dinner on the occasion of the 26 anniversary, which took place on October 17, 2023, in Washington, USA.
The Marshall Legacy Institute is an organization that, among other things, conducts mine action programs to provide the countries affected by mines and explosive remnants of war with the resources and training they need to demine their territory and to address the long-term impacts of mines and explosive remnants of war, such as poor economic opportunities for the most vulnerable groups of society, long-term tensions between ethnic and religious groups and the lack of opportunities for education and leadership development for young people.
Among such programs are Mine Detection Dog Partnership Program, Survivors’ Assistance Program to help mine victims and mine survivors, Education programs – children against mines program, peace makers and problem solvers, peace through sports.
Among this year’s award winners, who were presented at the Gala Dinner, were representatives from Iraq, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the USA.
Representatives of donors, representatives of international humanitarian organizations, representatives of mine action centres from all over the world took part in the meeting.
