SMAC Participation at International Explosive Ordnance Seminar Europe 2025 in Athens

Representatives of the Serbian Mine Action Center participated at the international seminar on explosive ordnance titled “Explosive Ordnance Seminar Europe 2025,” held from September 17 to 19 in Athens, organized by the UK-based company Intelligence-Sec.

In recent years, Greece has been facing challenges related to the detection of unexploded bombs from the World War I and World War II. As a result, special attention has been given to demining large areas that remain contaminated.

The seminar brought together leading explosive ordnance disposal experts from Europe and North America, who discussed current national capacities, experience sharing, technological innovations, and the challenges countries face in the field of humanitarian demining.

One of the main topics of this year’s seminar was the increasingly frequent discovery of unexploded ordnance remaining from the world wars, as well as the challenges related to clearing large areas of land to ensure their safe use.

At the invitation of the organizers, representatives of the Serbian Mine Action Center gave a presentation on the SMAC responsibilities, ongoing projects, future plans, and the challenges encountered in their work.

This event represents a valuable opportunity for further progress in the exchange of knowledge and experiences, which is essential for improving safety in communities at the international level.
