Field Visits to Potential Project Sites with Donors as Part of the Ongoing Strategic Dialogue
Representatives of the Mine Action Centre of the Republic of Serbia, together with Kelly Matanin, Program Manager for Europe at the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Political-Military Affairs, representatives of the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade, and representatives of ITF – Enhancing Human Security from Slovenia, visited potential project sites to assess needs and establish priorities for project implementation based on the available information and identified needs.

The visits were conducted to gain first-hand insight into the conditions on the ground, collect relevant data, and define the next steps in planning humanitarian demining activities, in accordance with the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS).

The Mine Action Centre of the Republic of Serbia will continue working in cooperation with the relevant institutions and international partners to identify priority sites and prepare projects for their clearance.
Contributions from international donors like the U.S. Department of State are of great importance to advancing humanitarian demining efforts in the Republic of Serbia, as they help ensure the continuity and expansion of activities aimed at identifying and removing explosive remnants of war (ERW).
These partnerships play an important role in supporting the safe use of land, the sustainable development of local communities, and the implementation of infrastructure projects.
