Visit to the Site of the Sunken German Fleet near Prahovo

The Director of the Serbian Mine Action Centre, together with representatives of the Centre, visited the site of the sunken German fleet from the Second World War near Prahovo, as part of the visit by the Minister of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure, Aleksandra Sofronijević.

During the visit, the activities related to the implementation of the project for the removal of 21 sunken vessels were presented, together with the explosive remnants of war (ERW) protection measures accompanying the execution of the works.

The Serbian Mine Action Centre developed the Project for Protection against Explosive Remnants of War during the Removal of 21 Sunken Vessels in the Danube near Prahovo. The Centre monitors the implementation of the project and carries out quality assurance of the works, with the aim of ensuring the application of the prescribed safety measures and the safe execution of all activities.

During the visit, the importance of removing the sunken vessels for improving the safety of navigation on the Danube, protecting the environment, and creating conditions for the further development of the Port of Prahovo was highlighted. Minister Sofronijević was briefed on the progress made so far in the implementation of the project and on the activities being carried out to ensure the safe continuation of the works.
