Visit of the Swiss Diplomatic Delegation to the Mine Action Centre

A visit for representatives of the diplomatic staff of the Swiss Embassy from Serbia and the wider region was organized at the Innovation and Education Park of the Mine Action Centre of the Republic of Serbia. The delegation was led by Her Excellency Anne Lugon-Moulin, Ambassador of Switzerland to the Republic of Serbia.

On this occasion, members of the diplomatic corps were presented with the Centre’s achievements, ongoing activities, and plans for the further development of mine action capacities in the Republic of Serbia.

The Director of the Mine Action Centre, Mr. Bojan Glamoclija, emphasized that the long-standing and successful cooperation with the Geneva International Centre for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD) represents an important element in strengthening the capacities of the Mine Action Centre of the Republic of Serbia.

He highlighted that the training courses and workshops organized by GICHD enable Centre representatives to acquire up-to-date knowledge, exchange experiences with experts from various countries, and apply international standards and best practices in the field of mine action.

Particular importance was attached to the donation of the IMSMA Core information management system, provided by GICHD under the Implementation Partnership Agreement concluded with the Mine Action Centre of the Republic of Serbia. The system was developed to support the Centre’s needs and enhance planning, management, and data analysis in the field of humanitarian demining.

The participants were briefed on the activities and achievements of mine action operations in the Republic of Serbia, including presentations of the results and contributions of relevant companies and organizations operating in this field.

Representatives of the Centre conducted a demonstration of explosive ordnance disposal procedures under conditions simulating a real operational environment, as carried out within EOD training programs, and presented the equipment used during field operations.

Such meetings contribute to strengthening mutual trust and fostering the further development of partnership relations.
