Ministry of the Interior Day and Police Day Commemorated
On the occasion of the Ministry of the Interior Day, the Patron Saint’s Day of the Ministry of the Interior, and Police Day 2026, numerous commemorative events were organized throughout the Republic of Serbia, including tactical and technical exhibitions, ceremonial parades of police units, demonstration exercises, and presentations of equipment and vehicles.
The central ceremony was held at the Serbia Palace in Belgrade, with the aim of recognizing members of the Ministry of the Interior for their contribution to safeguarding public security and advancing the work of the police service.
On this occasion, the President of the Republic of Serbia, His Excellency Mr. Aleksandar Vučić, presented Gold Medals to the most distinguished members of the Ministry of the Interior in recognition of their outstanding service and achievements.
The Ministry of the Interior Day and Police Day are commemorated in remembrance of the events of 1862, when the Serbian Gendarmerie participated in the defense of Belgrade during the conflict at the Čukur Fountain and the subsequent Ottoman bombardment of the city.
The ceremony was attended by the highest-ranking state officials, representatives of government institutions, members of the diplomatic corps, as well as numerous guests and members of the police service.
