Training for Non-Technical Survey Instructors
Non-technical (general) survey is a key step in the humanitarian demining process, as it allows for more precise planning and more efficient targeting of resources to locations where mines are actually present.
International instructor Ms Helen Gray delivers specialized training related to non-technical survey for the representatives of the Mine Action Center of the Republic of Serbia (SMAC).
Upon completion of a program, SMAC representatives will become certified instructors and be qualified to conduct further training in this field.
The training aims to improve the capacity to identify areas contaminated by mines and explosive remnants of war. This training is of particular importance for the Municipality of Bujanovac, where one of quite significant non-technical survey projects is being implemented.
In addition to SMAC representatives, survey team engaged on the Non-Technical Survey Project of the Municipality of Bujanovac is also undergoing part of the training. Their acquired knowledge will be directly applied in the field, and further training of the survey team will be conducted by certified instructors of the SMAC.
The Municipality of Bujanovac is among the most affected when it comes to remaining mines and explosive ordnance, which directly impacts on the safety of residents and economic development.
By precisely identifying suspected areas, the local community gains the opportunity to safely use the land, which will contribute to the development of agriculture, infrastructure, and other economic activities.
The training is conducted in accordance with the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS), ensuring the application of best practices and methods in the demining process.
Investing in education and professional development in the field of demining opens the door to sustainable development and increases the quality of life in affected areas.
The training program is being successfully implemented thanks to the support of donors, whose support is also an investment in the knowledge, skills, and professional development of our staff.
