SMAC Representatives Attended Ceremony on the Occasion of the Sector for Emergency Management Day
In the Serbian National Theatre in Novi Sad, on Thursday, September 19, a ceremony was held on the occasion of the Day of the Sector for Emergency Management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Serbia and 15 years of the existence of the Sector, which was also attended by the SMAC representatives.
This event once again confirmed the importance of the joint action of all relevant actors in order to preserve safety and prevent risks in our society.
On this occasion, as a sign of gratitude for the support to the Sector, the Prime Minister of Serbia, Miloš Vučević, was presented with an icon of the White Angel, which was received by his envoy Dr Nikola Banjac, while Minister Dačić was presented with a special plaque for supporting, equipping and strengthening the Sector for Emergency Management. The golden plaque for the contribution to equipping and strengthening of the Sector was presented to the Mayor of Novi Sad, Milan Đurić.
In his address to the attendees, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, Ivica Dačić, said that the members of this Sector, with their courage and efficiency, as well as their quick response in emergency situations, are the pillar of the state’s security and support to its citizens.
Minister Dačić emphasized the importance of cooperation of all institutions and joint action in order to respond more effectively to emergency situations.
SMAC representatives emphasized the importance of cooperation with the Sector for Emergency Management of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the field of humanitarian demining, as well as joint efforts in providing a safer environment for all citizens.
This event was an opportunity to celebrate 15 years of efficient work of the Sector, dedicated to the protection of citizens and management in emergency situations.
According to the Minister, the Sector for Emergency Management, whose establishment he supported at the suggestion of Predrag Marić, the first head of the Sector, justified the trust of its establishment in 2009 and became support to citizens and the state in emergency situations, as evidenced by 31,201 lives saved.
